The University of Zurich, in close cooperation with the Zurich University of Teacher Education, is responsible for the subject-specific aspects of teacher education at secondary level I (lower secondary school). The Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at the University of Zurich offers subject-specific modules for prospective secondary school teachers in the teaching subjects German, English, French and History. The University of Zurich develops the content of the subject-specific modules, taking into account «Lehrplan 21» (Curriculum 21), and is responsible for the organization and implementation of the modules. The departments involved in providing the training, in collaboration with the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, are responsible for the quality of the modules.
