The «Teaching Diploma for Upper Secondary Education» (LfM) provides pedagogical training that qualifies students to teach at an upper secondary Baccalaureate school (i.e., Swiss gymnasium/Matura school). The teaching diploma degree program comprises 60 ECTS credits and lasts four to six semesters depending on the study structure. You complete this degree programm in addition to the subject-specific Master's degree. You can complete it parallel to the Master's and Doctoral studies.
You can obtain the Teaching Diploma for Upper Secondary Education for one or two teaching subjects. It is also possible to obtain a teaching qualification for an additional teaching subject at a later stage. In all degree program variations, you can also acquire the Additional Vocational Pedagogical Qualification (BPZQ). This is required for teaching at vocational schools as well as at commercial, business and IT upper secondary schools.
