On this website you will find explanations of our legal bases and study-related documents. The framework ordinance, the study regulations, their annexes and the transitional regulations are legally binding. All other documents are of an explanatory nature. No legal claims can be derived from them. 

Framework ordinance

The Framework Ordinance on Bachelor's and Master's Degree Programs at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences of the University of Zurich (RVO) contains the basic provisions for the Bachelor's and Master's degree programs. 

Study Regulations (general part)

The Study Regulations for the Bachelor's and Master's degree programs at theFacultyof Arts and Social Sciences of the University of Zurich (STO) contain the implementing provisions of the RVO. They consist of a general part and the program-specific annexes. The general part regulates the aspects of your studies that apply to all programs.  

Study Regulations (Annexes)

The annexes of the study regulations regulate the program-specific aspects of your studies. There you will find the relevant requirements for passing the program. In addition, each annex contains any combination prohibitions. For Master's programs, you will also find the academic requirements for admission.

Transitional Regulations

For students who stared their studies before Fall Semester 2019, the transitional rules apply in some programs. They contain the pass requirements to fulfil the curriculum. Each regulation also contains an equivalency table. It describes the equivalence of old and new compulsory modules.  
 

Modul catalogue

The module catalogue contains the long-lasting modules offered by the study program. Sorted by module groups, it provides information on the compulsory and core elective modules. The range of elective modules offered each semester can be found in the course catalogue.

Sample curriculum

The sample curriculum shows an example of a course of study to fulfil all the pass requirements within the standard period of study. It is based on a start in the Fall Semester with a full-time study load. There may also be other sensible courses of study, especially if you are studying part-time or have other commitments.

Study guide (general part)

Even before you start your studies, the General Study Guide is your most important resource. It provides you with an overview of the basics of studying at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. All study-related processes from admission to graduation are explained. You will also find the most important contact points within and outside the Faculty. The guide will help you to successfully organise your studies.

 

Study guide (program-specific part)

The study guides contain program-specific explanations and recommendations regarding your studies, e.g. on examination requirements or qualifying papers. The guides can help you choose the right study program by highlighting goals, skills and career opportunities.
