On this website you will find all the information you need if you want to study abroad for some time or spend an exchange semester at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (PhF).
Please also note the information on the website Mobility within Switzerland – Outgoing or Mobility within Switzerland – Incoming.
If you are studying at the University of Zurich (UZH) and would like to earn credits for coursework at another university, please note the following:
You can complete an entire minor study program at another Swiss university. You can have this credited to your degree provided that
it corresponds to the academic level of your major study program at UZH;
the subject content is not equivalent to your major at PhF;
it has a scope of at least 60 ECTS credits at Bachelor's level or at least 30 ECTS credits at Master's level. Completing multiple minor study programs is not permitted;
it is taken from the external university’s courses of study and has its own legal basis.
You can already choose an «External minor subject program» as a minor study program when applying online to UZH or later when changing programs. On the page Mobility within Switzerland – Outgoing you will find information on admission. In any case, admission will be provisional. You can lift the provision with an official confirmation from the external university. It must confirm that the program meets the above criteria and that you are enrolled at the external university. Please send the confirmation to the Office of Student Affairs (zulassung@phil.uzh.ch). Make sure you take care of this in good time.
If the external university needs an approval of the minor subject mobility arrangement (confirmation of transfer of credits) from UZH, request it from the Office of Student Affairs (zulassung@phil.uzh.ch). To register for graduation, you will find the necessary information on our website.
Two other types of mobility are open to you within Switzerland:
Module mobility: You complete individual modules from other Swiss universities.
CH-Unimobil: You study one or two semesters at another Swiss university.
You can find all relevant information about on the UZH website Mobility within Switzerland – Outgoing.
Students at PhF have the option of studying for one or two semesters at an international partner university. You will find all the exchange programs (SEMP, etc.) and information on self-organized stays on the website of the Global Student Experience.
If you’re studying at another university and want to earn credits for coursework at UZH, please note the following information on incoming mobility.
PhF offers minor study programs amounting to 60 ECTS credits at Bachelor's level and 30 ECTS credits at Master's level. You can complete one of these minor study programs if your Swiss home university does not offer the corresponding study program. Please inform yourself in advance on the UZH website Mobility within Switzerland – Incoming. The admission requirements for UZH and for PhF apply.
For the confirmation of studies for a minor study program for your home university, please complete the following form and send it to zulassung@phil.uzh.ch:

Students of the University of Basel can request a learning agreement directly via zulassung@phil.uzh.ch. After successful completion of the minor study program, the Office of Student Affairs will send confirmation of completion, including an overall grade, to your home university. You can choose from three other types of mobility within Switzerland:
You can find all important information on the UZH website of Mobility within Switzerland – Incoming.
PhF enables international students to study at UZH for one or two semesters. You will find all the exchange programs (SEMP, etc.) and information on independently self-organized stays on the website of the Global Student Experience.
During their stay at UZH, PhF offers incoming students the opportunity to complete selected English-language modules from other disciplines. You can take these alongside modules from your own subject area. In addition, there are modules available each semester that are specifically designed for incoming students.
